Highlights of the Week

1 - Journal Article - Earlier this week, an article was published in the journal Managing Sport and Leisure concerning the impact of Covid-19 on the mental health of professional footballers. The article is free to view, and is available here.

2 - News - This one isn’t sport related, but as ever there is crossover with another sector. This article was published in University Business and it talks about the development of a growth mindset during higher education. Read it here.

3 - Video - Former professional rugby league player and now performance psychologist Lee Jewitt talks about what it meant for him to be mentally tough as a young elite athlete. Watch the video here.

Quote of the Week

β€œEverything negative - pressure, challenges - are all an opportunity for me to rise”

Kobe Bryant

This week marked one year since Bryant, his daughter Gianna and the seven other people on board the helicopter were tragically killed in southern California.

β€œGod rest his soul, God rest the soul of Gigi and the seven others that perished,” said Miami assistant coach and former NBA player Caron Butler, who was close with Bryant for years. β€œThe legacy that he left, man, he did it all. He inspired. When you think about being better, embracing the storm, having the right mentality and perspective about life and always trying to be better, he embodied it all and that’s why his legacy will live forever.”
